Church of Scotland congregations are facing big increases in their insurance bills after their buildings were found to be worth millions of pounds.
Greenock and Paisley Presbytery recently employed a firm of surveyors to report on how much it would cost to completely rebuild every church and manse.
The church building with the highest insurance value was found to be Ardgowan in Union Street, Greenock, on £12.5million.
Next was Westburn in Nelson Street on £12.4million.
Bottom of the league in the area is St Ninian’s, Greenock whose rebuild costs for their church would be £1.3million.
