Will Celtic shindig begin a Sunday sailing for Lewis?

Caledonian MacBrayne looks set to launch its first commercial sailing from Lewis on a Sunday this summer, to help those attending a music festival on the island. However, other members of the public, islanders and tourists alike, would be able to use it.

The ferry company will raise the issue with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) today but the Presbyterian churches are opposed to the idea, even though it would be a one-off sailing between Stornoway and Ullapool. Lewis is the last major island with no Sunday ferry service because of Sabbath observance.
