Farewell to Bathgate minister

The Reverend Elliot Wardlaw has retired from St David’s Church in Bathgate’s George Street precinct after 23 years of service. A spokesperson for St. David’s said: "Many members of the congregation, friends and many of the parish were uplifted by his pastoral care in times of illness and bereavement."

She added: "When St David’s church tower was declared unsafe and there was a possibility of it being demolished, Mr Wardlaw worked unceasingly and explored many avenues to have the tower restored, thus ensuring that one of Bathgate’s finest buildings was being preserved. He then initiated the cross on the tower, which lights up the sky over Christmas and Easter. Not many towns in West Lothian or possibly Scotland can say they have a cross shining in the sky at these times."
