Father Jim Thomson

Profile of Father Jim Thomson, the priest at St Joseph's Parish Church in Stepps and chaplain to the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service. "I visit fire stations and attend functions for the service such as long-service ceremonies and induction days. Firefighters have to deal with horrific scenes at times so it's important we are available for them to speak to if needed.

"They have to witness horrible incidents like the Stockline Plastics Factory disaster. Stockline highlighted the need for a fire service chaplaincy. No officers were killed but crews found it comforting us being there in case we were needed."
