Different rules for Rod's sake?
New mum Denise Stewart shares one thing other than her surname with legendary rocker Rod. The pair both decided that, despite being unmarried, they wanted to get their sons baptised in church in Leith.Like Rod, she wanted to uphold family tradition, by holding a Church of Scotland service in the port. But the reception received by 28-year-old barmaid Denise was in stark contrast to her famous counterpart.
Rod and his fianceé Penny Lancaster were welcomed like part of the congregation at South Leith Parish Church, for the baptism of their son Alistair last summer.
Up the road at North Leith Parish Church, Denise and long-term partner John Anderson say they were told they could not get 13-month-old son Connor baptised - because they have not yet married.
