Angelika accused found in cupboard
The handyman accused of murdering student Angelika Kluk was found in a cupboard on the night she went missing, a court heard yesterday.Peter Tobin, 60, was found by church voluntary worker Dennis Curran after he failed to help at a meeting.
Mr Curran, 63, told Tobin's murder trial the handyman was not his usual "chirpy" self.
When he found him in the cupboard, he said he was "resting" among the tools stored there. Mr Curran told the High Court in Edinburgh: "I asked him if he was OK. He said he was just having a wee rest and wanted to take it easy.
"I think it was a wee box he was sitting on. He did not look well."
Mr Curran, who works with the Glasgow-based Loaves and Fishes organisation, who help the homeless, said the charity often met at St Patrick's RC Church in the city's Anderston.
Polish student Angelika, 23, was staying at the church's chapel house and Tobin had been working there as a handyman.
Mr Curran said of Tobin, who he knew as Pat McLaughlin: "He became a big help to me and a big help to the charity.
"He became friendly with Father Gerry and did work for him."
