Images of Angelika's body shown

A jury has been shown graphic photographs and video images of Angelika Kluk's body after it was found under the floor of a Glasgow church.

The Polish student's arms could be seen in the pictures, protruding from under plastic sheeting.

Her hands were bound together in the pictures taken at St Patrick's Church in Anderston, Glasgow.

Handyman Peter Tobin, 60, denies raping and murdering the 23-year-old and hiding her body in the church.

The Judge, Lord Menzies, warned the jury and the public at the High Court in Edinburgh that they might find the images distressing.

Donald Findlay QC, defending, objected to the pictures being shown.

The court's public gallery was later cleared as video footage of Angelika's body being recovered was played following further protests from Mr Findlay.

He said that showing the tape in open court would be "appalling".

Earlier, the court was told that Mr Tobin was seen acting suspiciously near the hatch where Angelika's body was found.

Elspeth Checketts, a helper at the Catholic church, said she saw Mr Tobin acting "strange and jumpy" near the priest's confessional.
