Church marks 25 years in Balloch

A Cumbernauld church which boasts not one but two congregations celebrated the 25 anniversary of one of those congregations at an emotional service on Sunday.

Although Cumbernauld Old Parish Church lives up to its name by being in the town for centuries its younger congregation in Balloch is another force to be reckoned with.

It came into being to accommodate the dramatic population rise in this part of the New Town and its beginnings could not have been humbler.

Services were first conducted in local homes, graduating onto a Portakabin.
