Lanark churches to host meeting for Holyrood candidates
Voters will have the chance to hear candidates standing for the Holyrood elections at a special hustings meeting in Lanark on April 29.Nominations were due to close on Wednesday this week, but the major parties have already told the organisers that they would be happy to attend.
The meeting is being organised by the Lanark churches - the two Church of Scotland churches and St Mary's - and will take place in Greyfriars on the Sunday night at 7pm.
"We have had informal talks with all the parties and they are keen to support it," said the Rev Bryan Kerr.
"Once the nominations are in, we will be formally inviting all the candidates."
All the candidates for the Clydesdale seat on the Scottish Parliament will be invited, and any major party without a Clydesdale candidate but which has put forward candidates for the list MSPs will also be invited.
