Churches open doors for history week
Scottish Local History Week starts on Monday and this year’s theme in the Stirling area is churches.A spokesperson said: “The churches in each of the communities are vibrant focal points. Many are of architectural importance, have splendid examples of stained glass windows or have interesting carvings.
“During Scottish Local History Week a number of local churches will be open to the general public so that visitors can enjoy the beauty of each church, and the calm and peaceful atmosophere within.
“Members of the local history societies will be in attendance as guides.”
Monday: Drymen Parish Church, 2-5pm.
Tuesday: Strathblane Church, 10.30am-12.30pm; Killearn Parish Church, 2-4pm.
Wednesday: St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Callander, 10.30am-12.30pm; Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Stirling, noon-4pm; Killin Parish Church, 2-4pm.
Thursday: St Blane’s Church, Dunblane, 11.15am-1pm; Balfron Parish Church, 2-4pm.
Friday, April 27: St Fillan and Alphonsus Church, Doune, 10am-noon.
