Kirks are united after formal pilgrimage
Worshippers from Blairdaff and Chapel of Garioch travelled five miles by horse-drawn carriage, foot and bicycle - and even by pedal car - to join a special church service last night in Aberdeenshire.The Church of Scotland formally united its kirks at Blairdaff and Chapel of Garioch in the service led by the moderator of Gordon Presbytery the Rev Alan Greig.
Centuries-old Chapel of Garioch Church was the setting for the historic event, which followed a symbolic pilgrimage by residents of all ages.
Church members gathered at Blairdaff Church and held a short prayer before setting out just before 6pm on the five uphill miles to Chapel of Garioch.
The service of union, attended by ministers the Rev Kim Cran and the Rev John Mack, was followed by a reception in the nearby village hall.
