Bishop to be ordained

A bishop will be ordained in Carrick on Saturday - for the first time in centuries. Rev Malcolm Kelly will become the Celtic Church in Scotland’s Bishop of Carrick, Argyll and the Isles.

Members of the public can attend the historic ceremony at Crossraguel Abbey at 1pm on Saturday, April 28.

Bishop-elect Kelly and his wife Anne live in Colmonell. And the couple have recently opened a Celtic Church charity shop in Girvan.

Former lighthouse keeper Mr Kelly said: “I have invited other members of the local clergy to what will be a broadly-ecumenical ceremony.

“But anyone who wishes to come along is very welcome. I have been overwhelmed with the messages of goodwill and support I have received.”
