Basra sex attack soldier is jailed
An Army corporal who pretended he was an ex-padre has been jailed for sexually assaulting a teenage male soldier in Iraq.Gordon MacGlashan, 45, has been caged for 30 months over the attack at a Naafi bar in Basra.
The victim, a Royal Regiment of Scotland private, fell asleep after MacGlashan plied him with drink.
He woke up to find MacGlashan had put his hands down his trousers and was trying to fondle him.
A military court in Osnabruck, Germany, heard Scots-born MacGlashan had studied divinity but the Church of Scotland felt he was an "unsatisfactory" candidate for the clergy.
MacGlashan denied assaulting the private in April last year but admitted having a military driving licence bearing the title "Rev" and wearing the insignia of an Army chaplain.
