Brethren in search for new premises
The growth in the number of Brethren worshipping with the Perth Gospel Trust has led to the need to replace the existing hall in Goodlyburn Terrace, according to a planning application seeking permission to build 32 flats on that site. The application explains that over the past 12 years the number of Brethren who meet in Perth has increased from 22 to 106, and “with the prospect of more to follow the need for a new hall has become urgent.”
The planning statement continues: “The application ties in with an approach from the developer in conjunction with Perthshire Housing Association who wish to acquire the site which they consider is an ideal location for the construction of affordable houses.”
If plans to develop the Goodlyburn Terrace site are approved, the Trust hope to acquire planning consent to build a new Gospel Hall on a site at Kintillo, Bridge of Earn.
“Many members come from a wide area of central Scotland and it would be advantageous to have a new facility built at an accessible point outside Perth City,” states the applicant.
