James Smith
Obituary of James Boyd Smith, GM, FRSE, CEng, FIEE Engineer; born 9 February, 1920, in Edinburgh; died 1 April, 2007, in Edinburgh, aged 87."James Smith was blessed with the sort of keen mind that could be turned to almost any problem. As such, he was highly regarded by all who worked with him. His business integrity was impeccable and in all fields, from bomb defusing to negotiating business deals, he could be relied upon totally."
"Elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1977, he took a continuing interest in the meetings on many exotic topics.
"But his interests were much wider than the business and professional fields. He was an elder of St Philip's Church in Joppa for 45 years and session clerk for ten years. He sang in the choir and deputised at the organ for 65 years. JB was a member of Edinburgh Presbytery and sat on various presbyterial and national church bodies."
