Minister of many parishes dies at 74
The Rev Robert Mellis, a Church of Scotland minister who worked in parishes across the north and north-east, has died, aged 74.Mr Mellis, born at Lhanbryde, near Elgin, was educated at Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, and studied at the city's university before working as a chartered accountant at Huntly.
In the 1980s Mr Mellis was ordained as a minister for the Church of Scotland and worked as a probationer assistant at Dyce Parish Church, Aberdeen, in 1981-1982.
He then moved to Rothes in Moray where he worked for around six years before a move to Tarbat, Portmahomack in Easter Ross.
His last position, from 1992 to 1998, was in Shapinsay, Orkney.
Mr Mellis was married to Agnes, formerly the organist at Huntly Parish Church, and the couple had three children - Christine, Fiona and Robert.
