Scottish Christians honoured in Queen's Birthday list

David Johnston and Ian McCrorie have been made MBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list. David Johnston, principal teacher in modern studies and religious and moral education at Greenfaulds High School in Cumbernauld has been made an MBE for services to education.

Retired teacher Ian McCrorie has been made an MBE for his service to music and the community of Inverclyde. Ian was organist in Greenock’s Mid Kirk for more than 30 years. Although he no longer holds a permanent post, there are very few Sunday mornings when he is not to be found at an organ console somewhere in the Clyde area. He has sat on Church of Scotland committees involving music and worship and is now a trustee of the Church Hymnary Trust. With various groups, he has made numerous CDs of choral music, psalms and hymns. (Full story at Inverclyde Now.)

Full honours list downloadable as a pdf from BBC Scotland News.

Several people have received honours for service to their communities. If you know of any with a Christian background, please let us know.
