Pastor John revs up for big challenge

Paisley pastor John Kynaston is praying for the strength to complete one of Scotland’s toughest athletics challenges as he joins more than 100 superfit runners for the gruelling 95 miles West Highland Way race between Milngavie and Fort William.

The energetic 48-year-old, who ministers to the congregation at Hopehall Church in the South End of town, will be walking on air if he completes the stamina-sapping course in his target time of just under 24 hours.

That’s the equivalent of running a mind-boggling four miles every single hour for a full day.

But, John, who was a physical education teacher before he was called to the ministry – and has been running since he was 11 – has that faith which the Bible says will move mountains.
