Christians take a stand at Royal Highland Show

Churches will be working together to provide a Christian presence at this year’s Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh (21-24 June).

Volunteers drawn from many Christian denominations will be represented on the Churches in Rural Scotland stand.

“It is important that the churches are at the Royal Highland Show,” says Bill Harvey, who lives near Oban, and is one of the volunteers, “because it is a reminder that the churches understand rural Scotland.

“After all, the members of those same churches are local people, living and working locally, and contributing fully to the life of their communities. The churches are in the midst of what is happening, supporting what is good and trying to address – with many others - whatever is unjust and unfair. We are a real part of rural Scotland today.”
