McCoist warning to bigots

Ally McCoist vowed to battle the bigots personally yesterday as Rangers launched a new campaign against sectarian behaviour.

The Ibrox club fears fans' misconduct could cost them dearly in docked points as the SFA crack down.

They have already had a series of fines from UEFA following incidents at European ties.

As the Follow With Pride initiative was launched, assistant manager McCoist said he would step in if he heard sectarian chants.

He said: "We have already had a warning from UEFA and this situation is getting serious.

"It is a hard enough job trying to win leagues and cups and we can't afford for something like losing points to happen.

"So if my club was going to get docked three points because of a fan, I would go and try to stop it right away.

"We are very proud of the club and I hope this is another step in the right direction."

The campaign will encourage supporters to police themselves by tackling inappropriate behaviour.
