Rev Tom McQuiston
Former Maybole man Rev Tom McQuiston has died after a long valiant battle with lung and heart disease. Tom, 77, died in Canada, surrounded by his family.He left Maybole in 1956, going to London to work in the seed trade. Tom married Morag in London, and the couple emigrated to Canada with their young family in the summer of 1966.
They settled out west in British Columbia, and Tom tried his hand at everything from petrol pump attendant to chicken farmer. In 1975 he enrolled in a theological college, and in 1980 was ordained a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada.
