End of the road for prominent Forfar church?

Forfar was dropped a bombshell [sic] on Friday afternoon with the news that the most prominent church building in town - the East & Old Parish - is to close its doors.

It was confirmed by the Church of Scotland that, following arbitration, St. Margaret's Church has been chosen as the preferred site to house a new unified congregation.

Both the East & Old and St. Margaret's Churches had already agreed a basis of union after many months of talks, but one of the main stumbling blocks was which building would be retained and which would close.

Full story at the Forfar Dispatch.
