Little enthusiasm for taking time off for St Andrew’s Day
Scotland's first state-sanctioned St Andrew's holiday is shaping up to be a non-event as most workers seem unlikely to take the day off, it was claimed yesterday.MSPs backed the idea of a national holiday for November 30 last year when they voted to allow workers to swap one of their bank holidays for a day off on St Andrew's Day.
However, according to some of Scotland's largest employers, few of their workers have bothered to request the day off this Friday.
