'Reformed' killer is preaching at churches
A convicted killer who claims he has turned to God has been touring churches to share his "remarkable story and music".Garry Brotherston was one of two men jailed for the vicious 1994 murder of Billy Barclay in Yoker. Brotherston, also of Yoker, was part of a gang of weapon-wielding youths who stabbed Mr Barclay, 40.
Now he is touring churches, including Helensburgh's Betheseda Church.
Pastor Gordon Weir said he was confident that the evening would be "truly remarkable". He defended the church's decision to thrown open its doors to Brotherston and said: "People, when they are young, get into difficulty and things happen that they will badly regret later in life but we don't write them off.
"Something had happened in his life that point to the power of God and it's important that they listen because he is a changed person."
