Mindless yobs' grave attack on cemetery

Vandals have desecrated graves and held a bonfire in Irvine’s oldest graveyard. The Old Parish Church is becoming a favourite haunt with vandals and firebugs who have now taken to building bonfires and running rampage through the cemetery.

[an error occurred while processing this directive] But CCTV has been ruled out by North Ayrshire Council to catch the hoodlums as there is nowhere to monitor it.

In total, around 300 headstones have been left lying on the ground.

Now the congregation have asked the council to take a special interest in the cemetery and stop any more damage being done.
