Citizens of the year add sparkle to Huntly

A couple who have clocked up decades of voluntary service to the community were last night hailed as Citizens of the Year in Huntly.

George and Muda Dow said they were "delighted and amazed" at the honour. The 73-year-old grandparents had been nominated both individually and as a couple for the annual accolade, organised by Huntly Rotary Club.

Mrs Dow is ... a stalwart of Huntly Parish Church where she was Guild treasurer for many years, and has organised the Christian Aid appeal locally for the last 20 years.
