Minister takes on huge charge
A newly-ordained Church of Scotland Inverness minister, who is following in his father's footsteps after an earlier career as a surveyor, is to take over the widespread Wester Ross charge of Lochcarron, Applecross and Torridon. The Rev David Macleod, who just spent 18 months as probationer to the Rev Fergus Robertson in the Inverness parish of Dalneigh and Bona, will be inducted to his new charge at Lochcarron Church on January 12.
Based at the manse in Lochcarron, he will cover the huge area stretching west to Applecross and north to Torridon and Kinlochewe.
He will hold services weekly at Lochcarron and Applecross, and in rotation once a month each at Shieldaig, Torridon and Kinlochewe, with the help of preaching elders.
A native of Stornoway, Lewis, he left the island for Aberdeen at the age of 10, when his father, the Rev Donald Macleod, began to study for the ministry, and later moved to Skye, when Mr Macleod Snr was called to the charge of Snizort.
