Blythswood puts out appeal to aid flood-hit Africans

Easter Ross-based Blythswood Care appealed yesterday for cash donations to bring food aid to villagers in Mozambique and Malawi displaced from their homes by the latest flooding to hit southern Africa.

For more than a year, Blythswood has been feeding up to 700 children orphaned by the region's Aids epidemic. Through partner organisation Healing Every Nation, it has also been providing clothing, health care and school support.

Last week, new agencies reported that flooding along the Zambezi River valley had left tens of thousands homeless. "Our partners are now faced with an immediate humanitarian crisis," said Blythswood's chief executive, James Campbell, at Evanton, yesterday.
