"Cowardly" robbery of man, 84, in church

An elderly man was robbed as he prayed in a church in what police today branded an "appalling" and "cowardly" act.

The 83-year-old was targeted as he said prayers in St Ninian's Church on Fulton Street in the Knightswood area of Glasgow.

Another man approached him from behind and grabbed him by the neck, then searched through his elderly victim's pockets before taking his wallet.

The pensioner was not injured but was left badly shaken by the incident, which happened between around 4pm and 4.20pm yesterday.
