Thug attacks pensioner as he prays in church

A shocked grandad yesterday told how he was attacked by a mugger as he prayed in church. Walter McCann, 83, was grabbed by the throat from behind in St Ninian's RC Church in Knightswood, Glasgow.

The thug rifled through the pensioner's pockets and grabbed his wallet before fleeing. Walter was badly shaken by the ordeal but said: "I have prayed for him. I feel sorry for him."
