New window in Crossgates Church

A stained glass window commemorating former church members has been installed at Crossgates Church. The window has been dedicated by the Right Rev Finlay Macdonald, principal clerk to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

The idea of a memorial window was prompted by a desire to commemorate the lives of Sandy and Hannah Moore, two faithful members of the church.

As discussions continued it became clear that such a memorial would mark the memory of many former members.

In planning the window, discussions took place with the artist Roland Mitton and meetings with him led to the eventual design which is symbolic of the Trinity - the church is part of Cowdenbeath Trinity - and joining together of heaven and earth.

It shows the river of life, hands representing strength and affinity with the land, anemones symbolising the blood of Christ, fish representing His life and lillies representing purity of the spirit.
