Man jailed for 'child corruption'

A bus driver who befriended a 14-year-old girl, gave her alcohol and cannabis and got her pregnant, has been given sentences totalling 10 years.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that the girl regularly took a bus between Carluke, Motherwell and Airdrie, driven by Michael Deegan, 40, of Harthill.

On her 14th birthday, Deegan drove her back to his bedsit after his shift and had sex with her twice.

On the evening of 23 March last year the girls were the only passengers, so he pulled over for a break, gave the birthday girl a bottle of Buckfast and shared a cannabis joint with them.

After his shift he took the girl home with him, where he took off her clothes and had sex with her.
