Scots priest in Spain to see Celtic found dead in hotel room

A Scottish priest who travelled to Spain to watch Celtic play Barcelona has been found dead in his hotel room.

Monsignor David Gemmell, 54, the senior priest at St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh, was discovered by a colleague he had travelled with in the Catalonian capital yesterday morning.

In a statement the Catholic Church said: "Mgr Gemmell did have a pre-existing history of heart trouble."
