Minister sacked over book about ex-colleague
A Free Presbyterian Church minister has been sacked from his post. The Rev Allan Macdonald, 48, of the Farr and Daviot congregation in Inverness-shire, was given two separate indefinite suspension orders from the church court last week.
Mr Macdonald, a former Northern Constabulary police officer, denied any wrongdoing.
Mr Macdonald angered fellow ministers by writing a book about, among other matters, the case of a former colleague, Dr Donald Boyd, who had been disciplined following allegations of personal misconduct.
The book, Veritatem Eme (Buy The Truth) was circulated to hundreds of church members when it was published in 2006.
Alleging that the church failed to investigate the case properly, the book also criticised the lenient manner in which Dr Boyd was dealt with.
