Golden jubilee for EK church

The South Parish Church in The Murray celebrates its 50th birthday this year.

And the congregation is organising a variety of events to mark this historic milestone.

A recent concert given by the popular Christian hymn writer Stuart Town saw the Baird Hill building packed and a total of £2240 raised for two charities — the Scottish Bible Society and Christian Aid.

However, the main focus of the celebration will be the anniversary communion service which takes place this Sunday, June 1 when the guest preacher will be the Reverend Derek Hughes, moderator of Hamilton Presbytery.
