Platform 2: change your world
Festival-goers at T in the Park this year will be offered the opportunity to sign up to a free life changing experience in a developing country such as Ghana, South Africa, India or Peru.Platform 2, organised by Christian Aid, BUNAC and Islamic Relief, is a three-year scheme funded by the Department for International Development to enable 2,500 participants to experience the realities of overseas development work in countries including Ghana, South Africa, Peru, India and Malawi.
The scheme is aimed at raising awareness of global development amongst young British adults who would not normally be able to afford the opportunity to volunteer overseas.
Christian Aid is responsible for recruiting volunteers and will have a team of eight people at T in the Park encouraging 600 festival-goers to sign up to find out more.
Craig McCreadie from Christian Aid in Glasgow said: "Platform 2 offers young adults an experience that will transform the rest of their lives. Not only will it give them a chance to learn about, and get involved in, the issues that shape their world, we hope they will learn new skills and unlock the potential within them to be better global citizens."
