Bishops arrive in Scotland prior to 2008 Lambeth Conference
About 70 Bishops and their wives from across the world have arrived in Scotland prior to attending the 2008 Lambeth Conference being held in Canterbury. Each Diocese of the Scottish Episcopal Church will offer hospitality to the Bishops and their wives who come from countries including North and South America, India, South Africa and New Zealand. They will stay with local families and enjoy a wide range of hospitality including Civic Receptions. A number of the Bishops will preach in churches across Scotland this Sunday, sharing their experiences of being part of the world-wide Anglican Communion.
The Rt Rev Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh, said: "It is important that we recognise the international dimension of our church life and bring it powerfully into the life of each of our dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church."
