Church decries doctors who support population control
Medics stating that they are in favour of population control highlights how some doctors' priorities have "gone awry", it has been claimed this week.John Deighan, a spokesman for the Catholic Church in Scotland, was responding to an editorial in the British Medical Journal which suggested that British couples should have no more than two children to reduce the environmental impact of the global population.
In response, Mr Deighan added: ""The use of medical intervention to achieve wider social policy objectives — that is, population reduction — outside the competence of medicine is seriously wrong."
