Shocking report into Scots secure unit riot blasts management

Scotland's worst ever secure unit riot was "inevitable" after months of poor management, a report has claimed.

Youngsters rampaged for six hours at St Mary's Kenmure residential unit in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow.

Four members of staff were injured and s200,000 worth of damage was caused.

A report into the "catastrophic" riot in March blames a catalogue of failures at the unit.

St Mary's is an independent school affiliated to the Cora Foundation, a charity backed by the Catholic Church.

A spokesman for the board of managers, who commissioned the report, said: "Lessons have been learned from the incident."
