Mosque leader jailed for abusing teenage girls

A Muslim community leader who sexually abused two teenage girls has been jailed for nearly four years.

Mosque leader Farooq Hussain was yesterday sentenced to 45 months.

Jailing the respected charity worker, Perth sheriff Lindsay Foulis told him that he took into account the fact he had tried to smear the names of the 14 and 15-year-olds with lurid claims at his trial.

Hussain, a married father-of-three, will have a 30-month extended period on licence after his jail term.

And he will remain on the sex offenders' register for an indefinite period.
